10 Outdoor Games for Kids

Ok. So the weather here in Maryland has been so unforgiving. I mean, my sweat has sweat. My body is irritated with its own self. But I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to get outside and do something. We know pools, splash pads, and ALLLL of the in-between are going to be packed with literally everyone and their 5th and 6th cousins, twice removed.

We also know that when it comes to getting kids outdoors it's not easy. Not when Netflix, Hulu and all of the other things they can do are easily accessible, full of everything to keep their mind busy and their bodies on the lazy. I know for myself, it's easier for my family if my boys burn off energy. And to think, they are only 3.5 and 1.5 ( what have I gotten myself into!)

So, I sat down and between Google, Amazon & Facebook - I have narrowed down the Top 10 games kids will LOVE to play while outside. Shoot, everyone will love to play! So get some snacks, lots of water, some sunshade for when ya need it - fire up the grill and get ready to play outside!

Call me a sucker, but honestly? I definitely have some nostalgia from when we (80's & 90's kids) used to have block parties and hang out on the stoop. My phone was the ancient VCR that literally never died and I remember riding that damn ankle kicker scooter and playing tag just because. I want my boys to do the same!

What are your favorite summer games to play!?

  • Life Lately

Life lately. Isn't it crazy to look back and see how fast time flies? I find that, more often than not, I am just running out of time. But who doesn't these days? With so much going on, events, outings, parties, and children growing it is hard to just sit back and relax. Cue this past weekend.

So, we've been here, in Maryland, since 2013 and it has been a long time coming that we make our way around Maryland and be tourists where we live. Because.. well... let's face it - we don't know where we will be. The military family lifestyle at its finest.  After a long week and a busy, busy weekend last weekend with Lucas' baptism we tried our best to keep things calm! And by tried, I mean that it was at least attempted.

Friday I was hit with the bug and decided to move the boys into separate rooms, after much consideration it was just time. Lucas and Alexander sleep differently and Lucas was climbing out of his crib so it was just a necessary little heartbreak. Cue the toddler bed. * insert tears * We had our best friends come over with their bundle of love and took the day to take apart the crib that has been up for 4 years this past June, we moved the boys into separate bedrooms and put together Lucas' crib. Like most moms, this was harder than I thought it was going to be and I spent a lot of time trying to keep/hold back tears. Also, where are these parents who keep their kids from climbing out until at least three years old? BOTH boys have been transitioned by 18/19 months.

Afterward, we went to our local carnival and grabbed Fried Oreos and Ice cream just because feelings needed to be had and an unnecessary amount of oil and dairy needed to be consumed.

Sunday I went about my business and worked at the church, in the nursery, and got home just to head back out into the unnecessarily hot day.

We took the boys to Watkins Regional Park - mostly because of the pictures below! Aren't they BEAUTIFUL!? Watkins has a Wizard of Oz theme and it is absolutely STUNNING. We had so much fun!

And here are some of my favorites JUST because. I have more, but well. That would be annoying to see a bunch of the same kind of pics. ;)

And now, we're headed into another weekend. Let's see what comes of this one!
